Elephants Extinct By 2020 If Ivory Ban Reversal Succeeds
Samuel Wasser, a recognized authority on the disappearance of elephants, has warned that no more than 400,000 African elephants remain in the wild today. As a point of comparison, there were over one million at the beginning of the 1980s. Half of the Congo’s wild elephants have been killed in the past five years.
It’ll be a very sad day indeed when the last elephants have been eradicated, hacked up to satisfied archaic and ignorant notions. Making trading ivory legal is a very very very bad idea for elephants and for us because they make our world more beautiful.
