..::”The area offshore of the border between Georgia and Florida hosts federally designated “critical habitat” for the North Atlantic right whales, whose population is believed to be about 350 to 400. Environmentalists have already sued the U.S. Navy to block its plans to create a sonar testing range nearby. A decision in that case is expected soon.
“This is a lot more intrusive than Navy sonar,” said Richard Charter, a senior fellow of the Ocean Foundation. “It’s louder and longer. And Navy sonar doesn’t lead to oil spills down the road.”
The National Resources Defense Council, in a report titled “Boom, Baby, Boom,” emphasizes that the ocean is an acoustic world and recommends that airguns, such as those that would be used for oil exploration, be kept out of sensitive areas and that greener alternatives be developed.
90% of large fish in the oceans are gone. 97% of native forests are destroyed. Our culture destroys landbases. 98% of native grasslands are destroyed. Each day 200 species are driven to extinction. Toxins are so prolific most mothers test positive for dioxins in their breast milk. Virtually ALL virgin forests in the USA are GONE. How can this be ignored?

"To emotionally accept impending disaster, to attain the gut-level understanding that the power elite will not respond rationally to the devastation of the ecosystem, is as difficult to accept as our own mortality. The most daunting existential struggle of our time is to ingest this awful truth—intellectually and emotionally—and continue to resist the forces that are destroying us."
